Baccharis pilulariscoyote brush. A dominant species in the northern coastal scrub. Less so, in Southern California. This is the upright form often known as the subspecies consanguinea that many, but not all, references recognize, including The Jepson Manual, 2nd ed. and Flora of Northa America. This upright form can be shaped into hedges in gardens while the prostrate form makes good ground cover. Photographed at the Berkeley Marina, where it grows quite well amonst the rocks lining the shore.
