Desmodium barbatum (Zarzabacoa Peluda) is a species of shrub in the family legumes. They have a procumbent growth form. They are native to Cerrado, Roraima, SãO Paulo, Ceará, Puerto Rico, Rio De Janeiro, Amazônia, Espirito Santo, Mato Grosso, Maranhao, RondôNia, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Rio Grande Do Norte, Distrito Federal, Caatinga, Sergipe, Santa Catarina, GoiáS, Tocantins, Paraná, Acre (Brazil), Piauí, Rio Grande Do Sul, Bahia, Mata Atlântica, Pará, Amapá, ParaíBa, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pantanal, and Pampa. Flowers are visited by Augochloropsis vesta.
