Hesperis matronalis (Dame's Violet) is a species of biennial herb in the family crucifers. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They have purple flowers and loculicidal capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by small white, Spicebush swallowtail, Monarch, and Gray Hairstreak. Individuals can grow to 4.5 feet.
