Puntius és un gènere de peixos de la família dels ciprínids i de l'ordre dels cipriniformes.
Morfologia
La llargària màxima per a un exemplar adult d'aquest gènere és inferior als 25 cm, tot i que, normalment, és de 15, i moltes espècies només assoleixen els 5.[2]
Són omnívors: mengen petits invertebrats i matèria vegetal.[2]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba a l'Àsia Sud-oriental, l'Índia, Sri Lanka i el riu Congo (Àfrica).[2]
Observacions
Són populars com a peixos d'aquari.[2]
