Anodontostoma chacunda és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels clupèids.[5]

Descripció

  • Pot arribar a fer 22 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 14).
  • 17-25 radis tous a l'aleta anal.[6][7][8]

Reproducció

A l'estuari del riu Godavari té lloc entre el novembre i el febrer.[6][9]

Alimentació

Menja diatomees, radiolaris, mol·luscs, copèpodes i crustacis.[6]

Hàbitat

És un peix d'aigua dolça, salabrosa i marina; pelàgic-nerític; anàdrom[10] i de clima tropical (31°N-23°S, 47°E-171°E) que viu entre 0-50 m de fondària.[6][11]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba des del golf Pèrsic fins a l'Índia,[12] el mar d'Andaman, el golf de Tailàndia, Indonèsia, el Vietnam,[13] les illes Filipines,[14][15][16] el nord d'Austràlia,[17][18] les illes Carolines i Nova Caledònia.[19][20][6][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43]

Ús comercial

Es comercialitza fresc, congelat, assecat, en salaó, bullit i en mandonguilles.[6]

Observacions

És inofensiu per als humans.[6]
