Lycaena phlaeas (Small Copper) is a species of butterflies in the family gossamer-winged butterflies. They are native to the Palearctic. They visit flowers of sweet alyssum, melancholy thistle, Russian vine, and Creeping Thistle. They are crepuscular herbivores. They rely on flight to move around.
