Costus scaber (Spiral Head Ginger) is a species of shrub in the family Costaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Mato Grosso, Pará, Roraima, Espirito Santo, Tocantins, Minas Gerais, RondôNia, AmazôNia, Amapá, GoiáS, Maranhao, Mata Atlântica, Acre (Brazil), Bahia, and Cerrado. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Straight-billed hermit. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
