Perennial, the caudex branched. Stems erect or ascending, 2-3 dm. long, branched, more or less hirsute, some of the hairs on the upper parts gland-tipped ; leaf-blades pentagonal in outline, 2.5-5 cm. wide, with scattered hairs on both sides, 3-5-lobed, the divisions sharply incised or toothed, the terminal segments lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate ; pedicels glandular-pubescent; sepals awn-tipped, the outer ones 10-12 mm. long, the bodies elliptic, rather gradually narrowed into the tip, long-hirsute and copiously glandularpubescent ; petals blue, 15-24 mm. long; style-column 16-18 mm. long, glandular-hirsute; carpel-bodies 5-6 mm. long, hirsute.
