Coscinodiscus granii is a species of diatoms in the family Coscinodiscaceae. They are native to Pará, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio De Janeiro, Rio Grande Do Norte, Pernambuco, Ceará, Alagoas, SãO Paulo, Espirito Santo, and Rio Grande Do Sul. Dead Coscinodiscus granii form siliceous oozes.

The least common type of sediment, it covers only 15% of the ocean floor. It accumulates at a slower rate than calcareous ooze: 0.2-1 cm / 1000 yr.
