Description of Guinardia flaccida

provided by BioPedia
Cells are cylindrical and combine into straight, usually short, chains. G. flaccida is larger than G. delicatula (diameter 42-90 microns). The cells have numerous, very distinctive, star shaped chromatophores. As in Guinardia striata bands can be seen in water mounts, in girdle view.
