Dasypeltis atra, commonly known as the African egg-eating snake or montane egg-eater, is a species of non-venomous snake in the family Colubridae. The species is endemic to Africa.
D. atra is found in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.[2]

Cette espèce se rencontre au Burundi, en Éthiopie, au Kenya, en Ouganda, en République démocratique du Congo, au Rwanda, dans le sud du Soudan et dans le nord de la Tanzanie[1].
L'holotype de Dasypeltis atra[2] mesure 94,5 cm dont 11,5 cm pour la queue.
Son nom d'espèce, du latin atra, « sombre, noir », lui a été donné en référence à sa couleur[1].
