Varanus giganteus (Perentie) is a species of Squamata in the family monitor lizards. They are listed in cites appendix ii. They are found in australasia. They are diurnal. They have sexual reproduction. They rely on running to move around.

Definition: Appendix II lists species that are not necessarily now threatened with extinction but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled.
