Also known as "Berus Mata Buaya" meaning the "Eye of the crocodile". This is one of the two IUCN designated Critically Endangered mangrove tree species in the world. The other one is Sonneratia griffithii. For example in Singapore, we have three known B. hainesii trees, while in Vietnam, there are only 4 known trees on the island of Con Dao.
