From British Columbia, east to Labrador and as far south as Colorado. In Alberta, this species is mainly confined the mountain and foothill regions (Nimmo, 1971).

General Description

Adult antennae are yellow-brown with the vertex of the head a uniform deep brown. Spurs are brown. The dorso-posterior edge of segment 9 in males, is developed posterad and acuminate. Basal article of the clasper is shallowly indented (Nimmo, 1971).

Life Cycle

Overwinters (in Idaho) as a 4th instar larva and pupates late May to early July. Adults fly in the afternoon, with activity coming to a halt at dusk (LaFontaine, 1981).
