Description of Cashia limacoides

Monopodial, cylindrical amoeba with a relatively wide anterior region and reduced hyaline zone. The posterior narrows and is smooth or contains a bulbous uroid which is never villous. Cytoplasm granular with a single vesicular nucleus. Cytoplasmic crystals and cyst stages not reported. At the ultrastructural level, mitochondirial cristae distinctly helical. Previously reported only from N. America and Europe. C. limacoides was recorded at Albury.
