They are native to Amazônia, Mato Grosso Do Sul, U.S. Virgin Islands, Sergipe, Mato Grosso, Bahia, Pernambuco, Maranhao, Pará, Alagoas, Piauí, SãO Paulo, Rio Grande Do Norte, US Minor Outlying Islands, Ceará, Mata Atlântica, ParaíBa, Rio De Janeiro, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Espirito Santo, Caatinga, The Contiguous United States, Minas Gerais, and Puerto Rico. They have simple, broad leaves and capsule fruit. Individuals can grow to 1 m.
