Rhododendron canescens (Mountain Azalea) is a species of shrub in the family Ericaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States, North America, and Eastern North America. They have simple, broad leaves, purple flowers, and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Palamedes Swallowtail, Monarch, and Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Individuals can grow to 17 m.
