They are native to Maranhao, Rio Grande Do Sul, Rio De Janeiro, The Contiguous United States, Sergipe, Alagoas, Pará, U.S. Virgin Islands, Rio Grande Do Norte, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, Piauí, Espirito Santo, SãO Paulo, Santa Catarina, Atlantic And Gulf Coastal Plain (Agcp), Amazônia, Bahia, Brazil, Mata Atlântica, Hawaii, Eastern North America, Middle America, US Minor Outlying Islands, Pernambuco, Ceará, ParaíBa, Paraná, and Puerto Rico. They have red flowers and achenes. Flowers are visited by Lasioglossum nudatum, Tetralonia nigropilosa, Megachile seychellensis, and Ceylalictus tumidus. Individuals can grow to 1 feet.
