Hesperolinon spergulinum (A. Gray) Small
Linum spergulinum A. Gray, Proc. Am. Acad. 7: 333. 1868.
Plants 1-4 dm. tall, the stem branched, sometimes from near the base, the branches dichotomous, glabrous or sparsely pubescent near the nodes ; leaf-blades narrowly linear or those near the base of the plant narrowly linear-spatulate, mostly 1-2 cm. long, entire, more or less involute ; bracts similar to the leaves but smaller ; pedicels capillary, ultimately somewhat deflexed ; flowers mostly spreading ; outer sepals ovate, 1.5-2 mm. long, glandless or with few irregularly-placed glandular teeth ; inner sepals slightly smaller than the outer ones, with more glandular teeth ; petals pink, mostly 6-7 mm. long ; capsules ovoid, about 2 mm. long, much exceeding the sepals.
Type LOCALITY : Cloverdale, Sonoma County, California. Distribution : Middle California.
