Has a rounded snout with a length of 2.0-2.8 times in head length; dorsal-fin origin above pelvic-fin origin; usually a very faint color pattern (more conspicuous in specimens from clear water) with a midlateral row of about 7-12 dark blotches; a row of about 10-15 mid-dorsal blotches; sometimes a few scattered spots on the dorsal half of the body; a black stripe from eye to the tip of snout; a conspicuous roundish black spot a the upper extremity of caudal-fin base; a fainter spot at the lower extremity.

Biology

Found in lower parts of river basins, with muddy to sandy bottom (Ref. 27732). Feeds on benthic invertebrates, particularly chironomid larvae, and some algae (Ref. 12693).
