A shrub 2-3 m. or more in height; twigs, petioles, rachis, and branches of the inflorescence more or less densely hispidulous when young, glabrous or nearly so in age; leaves shortpetioled, 6.5-15 cm. long; leaflets 3-7, oblong-elliptic to ovate, oval or obovate, 3-8 cm. long, 1.5-4 cm. broad, opposite or alternate, short-petioluled, abruptly and obtusely short-acuminate at the apex, more or less inequilaterally rounded or acute at the base, the terminal leaflet somewhat larger, all rather loosely hispidulous beneath when young, glabrous in age, rigid, reticulate-veined; panicles axillary, 3-12 cm. long; flowers short-pedicelled, the pedicels about I mm. long, strigillose; calyx gamosepalous, strigillose, the lobes 4 or 5, triangular or somewhat triangular-orbicular, acute; petals 4, oblong to elliptic, 3 mm. long, 1.2-1.5 mm. broad, slightly coherent at the base, white, strigillose; staminal tube subcampanulate, glabrous on the outside, slightly hispidulous within; anthers oblong to oblong-ovoid, glabrous, acute at the apex, inserted at the bases of the sinuses, the lobes between the anthers acuminate; ovary 6 mm. broad, ovoid, strigillose; stigma discoid; capsule ellipsoid, almost 1 cm. long
