Viscum shirense Sprague

shirense: of the Shire area in southern Malawi.

Leafless, pendulous, parasitic shrubs, favouring Bridelia as a host. Branches with flattened segments, 15-25 mm long and up to 4 mm wide. Bracteal cups sessile with flowers solitary or, occasionally up to 3. Berries round to ovoid-ellipsoid, 3-5 mm long, smooth, orange, on a short but distinct pedicel, 1-1.5mm long.

Southern DRC, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
