Vochya tabascana (Sprague) Standley
Vochisia panijlora Villada, La Naturaleza II. 3: 681. 1903. Not V. parviflora Spruce, 1875. Vochisia tabascana Sprague, Kew Bull. 1922: 183. 1922.
Branchlets smooth, glabrous, canaliculate; stipules subulate, 2 mm. long; leaves opposite, the petioles 1-2 cm. long, the blades elliptic-oblong, subcuspidate at apex, obtuse or subcuneate at base, 5-10.5 cm. long, 2.5-5 cm. wide, coriaceous, glabrous, with prominent and reticulate venation on both surfaces, lustrous above, the lateral nerves 9 or 10 pairs, arcuate-ascending, anastomosing near the margin; thyrses 15 cm. long, minutely puberulent, the rachis angulate, the cymes 2-5-flowered; peduncles 5-7 mm. long, the pedicels 5-6 mm. long; sepals broadly ovate, 2-2.2 mm. long, ciliolate, the blade of the posterior one 9-13 mm. long, its spur descending, 7.5 mm. long; petals ciliate, the middle one 4-5 mm. long, the lateral ones smaller; anther 5.5-6.5 mm. long; ovary glabrous, the style straight, 8.5 mm. long.
Type locality: Between Atasta and La Tejeria, Tabasco, Mexico. Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
