Description

Dioecious tree or shrub, up to 12 m. Leaves: lamina 5-10 × 1-2 cm, narrowly elliptic, abundantly dotted with golden glands, especially
beneath (see image 3); apex acute; margin entire or remotely serrate. Male spikes 0.8-3 cm; stamens 4. Female spikes 1.2-2.6 cm. Fruits c.2 mm in diameter, spherical, warted, covered with a white wax.

Widespread in tropical Africa (including Mozambique) to South Africa as far as the Western Cape.
