Perennial(?), deep green, glabrous, the stems mostly 3-8 dm. tall, slightly striate, often purple, paniculately branched above, the branches ascending, slender, the cymules open ; leaves mostly ascending, alternate, or sometimes opposite or whorled on shoots, the blades thinnish, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, or those of shoots sometimes elliptic or oblong, 1-2 cm. long, acute, entire, sessile; bracts similar to the leaves but smaller, not glandular-toothed ; outer sepals oblong-ovate, 3-3.5 mm. long, entire, or with 1 or 2 teeth near the base, acute ; inner sepals ovate, abruptly pointed, finely glandular-toothed near the apex ; petals yellow ; filaments linear-subulate glabrous ; staminodia slenderly subulate ; styles united below the middle ; capsules not seen.
