Aricidea is a genus of small paraonid worms, which are sub-surface deposit feeders and bioturbators.[1] Aricidea worms have a prostomial antenna, with all Aricidea species (except those in the subgenus Aedicira) possessing neuropodial thickened chaetae.[2]

Original diagnosis by Webster (1879: 255): ''One antenna. Feet biramous. Dorsal rami with cirri; ventral rami with cirri on anterior segments only. Branchiaeon anterior segments only. Setae all simple, capillary. First segment with setae, no tentacular cirri.''
