Kinetoplastid flagellate, free swimming, phagotrophic eukinetoplastic, bacterivorous, recurrent flagellum attached to body along most of its length; lacks the ventral furrow of Cryptobia spp., independent cortical contractility and changes shape while swimming; flattened when creeping, elongate and sinuous when moving among bacterial aggregates; cysts.
