Gypsophila viscosa is a glabrous, viscid annual herb that reaches up to 10-30 cm with stems possessing bands of sessile glands on the internodes. Leaves are 1-6 x 0.5-1.5 cm, narrowly ovate to ovate-oblong, with acuminate apex. Flowers are with campanulate calyx and white to pale pink petals that are 2-3 times as long as the calyx and are arranged in lax dichasial cymes. The fruit is subspherical capsule with tuberculate seeds.
