Perennial herb (10-20 cm). with creeping slender stolons rooting at the nodes and roots bearing subglobose tubers Stem simple, erect, glandular at the top carrying alternate, glabrous leaves with elliptical to ovate, entire or toothed blade that is sometimes deeply lobed.

Inflorescence simple, terminal, 18-30 mm in diameter, involucre bracts imbricated in several rows, lanceolate, narrow, lined at the base of glandular hairs and blackish, yellow florets.
Fruit: cylindrical achene, with 4 very obtuse ribs, without beak, with a bristle pappus in several rows, white and serrate.
