Rounded parasitic shrub up to 1.5 m, often pendulous when older. Branches compressed or terete, densely covered with short spreading hairs. Leaves mostly opposite or subopposite, grey-green to markedly blue-green, slightly fleshy, very variable in shape and size, from linear-lanceolate to broadly elliptic, glabrous. Inflorescences 8–24-flowered. Corolla c. 4 cm, yellow to yellow-green, banded yellow or orange on lobes, pubescent with longer spreading hairs on the tube above the basal swelling. Lobes erect, 5–8 mm. Stamen filaments red, inflexed. Berry red, obovoid, pubescent.

Agelanthus pungu

The blue-leaved mistletoe (Agelanthus pungu) is a species of perennial, parasitic plant in the family Loranthaceae, which is native to the southeastern Afrotropics.

Description

Its size is variable, as is the shape of its leaves. The glabrous and opposite leaves are grey-green to blue-green in colour.[1] A fuller description is given at Govaerts et al. (2018)[2]

Range

A. pungu has been recorded in Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, northeastern Namibia and northern South Africa. It is found from 150 to 2,100 meters in altitude.[1]

Habitat

It grows on a range of host plants in miombo woodland, Acacia-Commiphora bushland, wooded grassland, forest edges and in riparian growth.[1]

Alcance

A A. pungu foi registada na Tanzânia, Zâmbia, Malawi, Zimbábue, Moçambique, nordeste da Namíbia e norte da África do Sul. É encontrada entre os 150 e os 2.100 metros de altitude.[1]

Habitat

Ela cresce em uma variedade de plantas hospedeiras na floresta de miombo, na mata de Acacia - Commiphora, nas pastagens arborizadas, nas bordas das florestas e no crescimento da mata ciliar.[1]
