They are native to Middle America, Guyana, The Contiguous United States, Paraná, Amazônia, Rio De Janeiro, Argentina, French Guiana, Canada, Suriname, United States, Maranhao, Georgia, Santa Catarina, Uruguay, Espirito Santo, Brazil, Guadeloupe, SãO Paulo, Atlantic And Gulf Coastal Plain (Agcp), Trinidad And Tobago, Pará, Mata Atlântica, Rio Grande Do Sul, Bahia, Eastern North America, Rio Grande Do Norte, and Pampa. They have simple, broad leaves and yellow flowers. Individuals can grow to 3.5 feet.
