Arnica granulifera Rydb. Fl. Rocky Mts. 978. 1917
Rootstock horizontal; stem 3 dm. high, glandular-granuliferous; basal leaves petioled, with probably cordate bases, fallen at the time of flowering; stem-leaves 3 pairs, the lowest obovate, dentate, about 5 cm. long, glandular-granuliferous, thin, with 3 rather strong ribs, tapering at the base, the uppermost ovate or cordate, sessile; heads 3-5, cymose; involucre about 12 mm. high, 2 cm. broad, hemispheric, glandular-granuliferous; bracts about 15, oblanceolate, slightly ciliolate; ray-flowers 12-15, the ligules orange, about 1 cm. broad; diskcorollas 6-6.5 mm. long; achenes 6 mm. long, glandular-puberulent, striate; pappus-bristles
dirty-white, barbellate, 6 mm. long.
Type locality: Not given; but the type was collected on Long Baldv, Little Belt Mountains. Montana. August 19. 1896. /. H. Flodman iherb. X. Y Beit. Card.). Distribution: Montana and Washington.
