Testate amoeba, the lorica is colourless, circular or ovoid and composed of approximately sixty circular shell plates. The body plates appear to be arranged in a regular manner. The aperture is assumed to be a terminal elongate opening which collapses in preparation, and is surrounded by a broad based organic collar. The collar is covered with numerous small, oval siliceous plates. Body length 35-55 microns, breadth 24-40 microns, diameter of aperture 12-19 microns, diameter of body plates 10-12 microns, diameter of small apertural collar plates 1-2 microns. This is the type species of the genus.
