Ebriids, medium to large marine taxa with two subapically inserting flagella. With an internal siliceous sheleton. With an extensive fossil record, but only two genera extant. At times in the past this group was considered related to dinoflagellates; TEM studies showed that the nucleus is not a dinokaryon.
