Probably perennial, acaulescent. Leaves in dense rosettes, rhomboid-ovate, 1.5-2 cm. long, acuminate, glabrous but papillose-roughened ; flowering branches erect, 7-12 cm. high, glabrous ; leaves of flowering stems linear, scattered and small ; inflorescence a twobranched few-flowered cyme; pedicels 2-6 mm . long; calyx-lobes somewhat unequal, ovate, obtuse or acute; corolla deep-red or "coral-red," 10mm. long, the acuminate lobes united into a tube longer than the calyx. A very rare and interesting species, perhaps not properly referable to this genus.
