Amblychilepas is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Fissurellidae, the keyhole limpets.[1]
The species from this genus can be found in temperate waters of Australia, except Amblychilepas platyactis that is found along the Atlantic coast of the Cape Peninsula, South Africa.
Amblychilepas is closely associated with Dendrofissurella and Medusafissurella with which it shares radular and shell characters.
The body of species in this genus is larger than the shell. The anterior part of the oval shell is narrower than the rest. Both ends of the shell are somewhat raised. The sculpture of the shell shows fine radial ribs. The upper mantle fold only slightly envelops the edge of the shell. The apical opening (foramen) is elongate-oval and situated almost in the center. Long papillae extend from the mantle towards the foramen, as in A. nigrita. The foot extends behind the shell with a length larger than the shell. Contrary to Dendrofissurella and Medusafissurella, the foremost part of the foot (propodium) is unmodified.

Trừ loài Amblychilepas platyactis được tìm thấy ở ven biển Đại Tây Dương của mũi đất bán đảo (tiếng Anh: Cape Peninsula), Nam Phi, thì tất cả các loài thuộc chi này được tìm thấy ở những vùng nước ôn hòa của Úc.
Amblychilepas thì có mối liên kết gần gũi với Dendrofissurella và Medusafissurella. khi có cùng chung đặc tính với dải răng kitin và vỏ.
Kích thước cơ thể của các loài thuộc chi này thì rộng hơn vỏ. Mặt trước của vỏ hình ovan thì hẹp hơn phần phía sau. Hai điểm cuối của vỏ thì hơi phát triển. Trên vỏ thì có những đường vân nhỏ, mịn, hướng về phía cái lỗ thay thế cho đỉnh. Cái lỗ ấy thì thuôn dài theo hình ovan và gần như là ở chính giữa vỏ. Từ cái vỏ, có nhú ra một chút về phía cái lỗ, điển hình là loài Amblychilepas nigrita. Chân thì dài ra phía sau vỏ vài có chiều dài dài hơn chiều dài của vỏ. Khác với Dendrofissurella và Medusafissurella, mặt trước của chân (propodium) thì không thay đổi.
