Plants slender, up to 2 cm high, yellowish green, in loose tufts. Stems erect, often simple, sometimes sparsely branched, radiculose at base. Leaves distant, flexuose to crispate when dry, erect-spreading when moist, lingulate to oblong-lanceolate, somewhat squarrose or squarrose-recurved, lower ones smaller, up to 1.3 mm long, upper ones larger, up to 2.5 mm long, gradually tapered to a rounded or obtuse apex; margins plane, clearly serrate in the upper 1/3; costa slender, subpercurrent, smooth at back; upper cells short-rectangular, thick-walled and porose, lower cells elongate. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves not clearly differentiated. Setae slender, straight, up to 1 cm long, yellowish green; capsules suberect, elongate obovoid, asymmetric, slightly curved, inclined, and smooth when dry, brownish; opercula stoutly rostrate; annuli absent; peristome teeth divided nearly to the middle, reddish brown. Spores not seen.
