Xiphochaeta is a genus of South American plants in the tribe Vernonieae^[2] within the family Asteraceae.^[3]^[4]^[5]^[6]

The only known species is Xiphochaeta aquatica, native to Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.^[1]^[7]
