Vernonia (Ironweed) is a genus of shrub in the family Asteraceae. They are climbers. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and U.S. Virgin Islands. Flowers are visited by Honey bee, Clouded sulphur, Yellow Bumblebee, and honey bees. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
