Suffrutescent at base, branched, erect, 3 dm. high or less, densely and softly spreadingpilose; leaves ovate or on the branches sometimes ovate-oblong, 1.2-3 cm. long, 0.6-1.3 cm. wide, acutish, rarely obtuse, rounded or cuneate at base, short-pilose both sides with spreading hairs; petioles about 2 mm. long; racemes rather loose, 2-6.5 cm. long; sepals ovate-lanceolate, acute, 3 mm. long; wings oblong to oval, 4-5 mm. long, abruptly short-pointed, pilose, soon deciduous; capsule ciliate, orbicular, 8.5-9 mm. long; see,d 4 mm. long; aril with rather broad lobed and lobulate scarious margin.
Type locality : Hills of the Rio Grande to Rio Frio, Texas, westward to the San Felipe. Distribution: Texas and New Mexico to Nuevo Leon.
