Description: Littleleaf ratany (Krameria erecta), Krameria family (Krameriaceae). Joshua Tree National Natural Landmark, Utah. Step 1. Ventral sepal removed, with four other sepals still attached: two lateral and two dorsal. The dorsal ones, however, are not the same. They overlap and cover each other, so that one is more external and the other is more internal. Five petals are also seen: three dorsal, long and thin, and two lateral, short, oval and thick. Five stamens are also differentiated into three dorsal, thinner and slightly longer, and two lateral, thicker and shorter. Date: 1 May 2016, 18:15. Source:
