Leaf-blades oblong to oblong-lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, 1.5-6.5 cm. long, acute or abruptly pointed, sinuate-dentate, bright-green and glabrous above, paler and with scattered hairs beneath, somewhat reticulate, rounded or subcordate at the base, very short-petioled ; cymes sessile or nearly so, the branches sparingly pubescent, at least during anthesis ; sepals ovate or oblong-ovate 3.5^ mm. long, the glands fully one half the length of the sepal-body ; corolla pink, often deep-pink, 16-20 mm. wide, the larger petals 7-9 mm. long ; drupes pyramidal, 11-13 mm. long, red.
Type locality : Tropical America.
Distribution: Cuba and Hispaniola.
