Liatris pycnostachya (Prairie Blazing Star) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Eastern North America, and North America. They have purple flowers and achenes. Flowers are visited by Eastern Hornet Fly, Brown-belted Bumblebee, Lemon Cuckoo Bumblebee, and Tawny-edged Skipper. Individuals can grow to 3.5 feet.
