Maltese Star Thistle

Centaurea melitensis (Maltese Star Thistle) is a species of annual herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Morocco, Western North America, Spain, Italy, Yugoslavia, France, Libya, Algeria, Portugal, Greece, and Tunisia. They have simple, broad leaves and achene. Flowers are visited by Halictus farinosus, Checkered White, Apodemia virgulti, and Texas Powdered-Skipper. Individuals can grow to 0.64 m.
