Sparus aurata (Gilt Head Seabream) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family porgies. They are native to Atlantic Ocean, Malta, Serbia, Bulgaria, Monaco, Slovenia, Italy, Western Sahara, Cape Verde, Turkey, Russia, Denmark, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Libya, Morocco, Israel, Galician Shelf, North Atlantic, Lebanon, mediterranean region, Romania, Ireland, Greece, Iberian Coastal, Mauritania, Albania, United Kingdom, Gibraltar, Tunisia, Senegal, Portugal, River Tagus, France, Spain, Algeria, and Syria. They are omnivores. Individuals can grow to 70.0 cm. They have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is oviparous and iteroparous.
