Description: Characterized by reddish brown to red color; head with oblique blue lines; blue spots and dashes on body and fins; front of jaws with pair of large canines; 1-4large canines on side of lower jaw; elongate body, greatest depth 2.9-3.9 in SL; emarginate caudal fin; pectoral fins 2.1-2.4 in head length; pelvic fins 1.9-2.2 in head length (Ref. 90102).

Vissen Plectropomus oligacanthus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van zaag- of zeebaarzen (Serranidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1854 door Bleeker.
De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als Gevoelig, beoordelingsjaar 2008. De omvang van de populatie is volgens de IUCN dalend.[1]

點線鰓棘鱸，為輻鰭魚綱鱸形目鱸亞目鮨科的其中一種，廣東語名：花面星斑；台語名：紅條、虎條；分布於西太平洋區，包括菲律賓、印尼、巴布亞紐幾內亞、澳洲東北部、加羅林群島、馬紹爾群島、所羅門群島等海域，棲息深度3-30公尺，體長可達75公分，生活在外海礁坡，為底棲性魚類，屬肉食性，以甲殼類、魚類為食，可作為食用魚，有雪卡魚毒的報告。
