Adults caught in shrimp grounds and deeper shelf areas, but occurrence is sporadic. Juveniles inhabit offshore surface waters, especially around floating weeds. Adults may be restricted to continental margins of the western Atlantic with juveniles found in the Caribbean expatriated from these populations (Ref. 51183). Feeds mainly on benthic crustaceans. An excellent food fish (Ref. 26938).

La arioma pintada o pastorcillo aquillado (Ariomma regulus) es una especie de pez de la familia Ariommatidae.
Morfología
Los machos pueden alcanzar una longitud total de 25 cm, pero con más frecuencia no superan los 18 cm.[2]
Hábitat
Su hábitat natural es demersal; en profundidades comprendidas entre 0 y 500 m.[2][3]
Distribución geográfica
Oeste del océano Atlántico: desde Nueva Jersey (EUA) y el norte del Golfo de México hasta la costa septentrional de América del Sur, pasando por las Antillas.[2][3]

Vissen Ariomma regulus is een straalvinnige vis uit de familie van Ariommatidae, orde baarsachtigen (Perciformes), die voorkomt in het noordwesten, het westen en het zuidwesten van de Atlantische Oceaan.
Beschrijving
Ariomma regulus kan een maximale lengte bereiken van 25 centimeter. De vis heeft twee rugvinnen met in totaal 12 stekels en 15 vinstralen en één aarsvin met drie stekels en 14 tot 15 vinstralen.
Leefwijze
Ariomma regulus is een zoutwatervis die voorkomt in subtropische wateren. De diepte waarop de soort voorkomt is maximaal 500 meter.
Het dieet van de vis bestaat hoofdzakelijk uit zoöplankton.
Relatie tot de mens
Ariomma regulus is voor de beroepsvisserij van beperkt belang.

斑點無齒鯧，為輻鰭魚綱鱸形目鯧亞目無齒鯧科的其中一種，分布於西大西洋區，從美國新澤西州至蓋亞那海域，棲息深度可達500公尺，體長可達25公分，幼魚棲息在表層水域，成魚則生活在大陸坡，屬肉食性，以底棲性甲殼類為食，可做為食用魚。
