Reticulate Unicornfish

Protuberance or horn on forehead or snout absent. Convex head with slight angularity before eye. Anterior interorbital space and adjacent internarial space strongly elevated with a rounded median ridge. Body depth 3.1-3.2 in SL. Two keeled peduncular plates on each side, keels not large nor antrorse. Dorsal fin not elevated, first dorsal spine longest, 2.8 in HL. Emarginate caudal fin.

分布於印度-西太平洋區的印尼及台灣。台灣發現於墾丁海域。

極罕見之種，一般以流刺網或潛水鏢魚法等捕獲。可食用。

體呈長橢圓形而側扁；尾柄部有二個盾狀骨板，各有一個龍骨突。頭小，頭背於眼前略凸起，隨著成長，成魚在前頭部無角狀突起，亦無瘤狀突起。口小，端位，上下頜各具一列齒，齒稍側扁且尖銳，兩側或有鋸狀齒。背鰭及臀鰭硬棘尖銳，分別具V棘及II棘，各鰭條皆不延長；尾鰭彎月形，成魚之上下鰭條不延長為絲狀。體側上半部一致為褐色且有許多暗色小點或蠕紋，下半部淡色。頭部及尾鰭亦有許多暗色小點或蠕紋。是Dr. Randall在2001年所發表之世界新種。

主要棲息於礁區海域，棲息深度在15公尺左右，非常少見。
