Dusky Banded Goby

Dark bar from eye to upper lip, vertical bar under eye, broad dark band from eye to opercle; vertical bar under first dorsal fin; caudal fin with wavy dark stripes (Ref. 2798); characterized further by pale brown to whitish body color; variably joined pelvic fins at median from base to about two-thirds length of fifth ray; pelvic frenum absent; very long and pointed caudal fin; longitudinal scale series 63-67; cycloid scales on head and anterior body; becoming ctenoid posteriorly; cycloid scales on cheek and opercle; predorsal scales 11, extending to interorbital space; head with prominent papillae ridges; depth of body 4.7-5.5 in SL (Ref. 90102).

分布於印度-太平洋區海域，由東非到社會群島及所羅門群島，北至臺灣、日本，南至澳洲昆士蘭。臺灣分布於東部、南部、北部、小琉球及綠島等海域。

小型魚類，不具漁業價值。

第一背鰭：Ⅵ；第二背鰭：Ⅰ, 9；臀鰭：Ⅰ, 8；胸鰭：16~1187。縱列鱗 26~34；背鰭前鱗 11~15。身體延長，前部圓筒型、後部側扁；標準體長為魚體高的 4.7~5.5倍，呈現鈍圓狀。頭平扁，頭寬大於頭高。尾鰭圓形，等於或稍短於頭長；胸鰭末端延伸超過臀鰭基部；腹鰭不癒合成吸盤狀，亦無基膜相連。上頜、頰部具有肉質皮瓣構造數個。體呈皮膚色，體側具不規則的褐色斑塊和3條黑褐色寬橫帶：第一條橫帶位於第一背鰭的下方，斜向腹側，伸達腹部；第二條橫帶在第二背鰭的下方，向下亦伸達腹部；第三條橫帶貫穿於尾柄部。背鰭及臀鰭具灰黑色斜形點紋多條；胸鰭中央部具1條黑色橫帶；腹鰭黑色；尾鰭具多條灰黑色橫帶。(林上智、林沛立編寫 2012/10)

生活在熱帶沿岸岩礁或珊瑚礁區礁沙底質的暖水性小型底層魚類。雜食性，以藻類及底棲生物為食。
