Blue Speckled Prawn Goby

Characterized by generally greyish brown color with irregular greenish-brown bars and narrow pale spaces between; large black spots on side , mid-lateral row; head with pink spots; head and body with blue dots; united pelvic fins, presence of frenum; longitudinal scale series 56-65; head without scales; greatest depth of body 4.3 in SL; rounded caudal fin, about equal to head length (Ref. 90102).

Inhabits fine sand or silt bottoms of shallow lagoons and coastal bays (Ref. 37816) including seagrass beds (Ref. 51139). Associated with unspecified shrimps. Dwells in soft substrates (Ref. 127989).

Occurs in shallow lagoons and coastal bays, usually in areas with runoffs (Ref. 48637). Maximum depth reported taken from Ref. 127989.

分布於印度-太平洋區海域，由東非至馬里安那，北至臺灣、日本南部。臺灣分布於東部及南部海域。

小型魚類，不具漁業價值。

第一背鰭：Ⅵ；第二背鰭：Ⅰ, 9~10；臀鰭：Ⅰ, 9~10；胸鰭：16~17。縱列鱗 54~61。背鰭前鱗0。體延長，前呈圓筒型，後側扁。標準體長為魚體高的4.5倍；為頭長的3.2倍。第一背鰭與第二背鰭略等高，第二、第三鰭棘較長；尾鰭圓形，約與頭長等長；兩腹鰭癒合成一吸盤，末端延長到肛門位置。體呈暗灰色，頭部、頰部及鰓蓋骨散布暗紅色斑。體側中部具5個黑色橫斑，第1個橫斑剛好位於身體中心軸上；體側另具有不太明顯的暗色橫帶及散具一些黑色小點。第一背鰭及第二背鰭均具點狀縱紋；臀鰭鰭膜上具5條由前向後的斜紋；尾鰭散在小斑點。過去所記錄的/Cryptocentrus cryptocentrus/實為本種之誤鑑。(林上智、林沛立編寫 2012/10)

暖水性近海小型魚類，棲息於沿岸珊瑚礁區礁沙混和底質的水域。喜與槍蝦共生，雜食性，以藻類及底棲動物為食。
